SELPA System II's core module is District Access which contains the master student database. Written by Faucette Micro Systems, it is a Windows program for viewing, updating, and reporting on Special Education students. District Access provides the following major system features:
- Client/Server database using a LAN or WAN
- Compliance with CASEMIS Requirements
- Modern and easy to use tabbed interface
- Over 100 pre-defined reports available in the system today
- Report Writer included for custom report design
- Based on the Advantage Database Engine from Sybase
- Supports both Single District and Multi-District SELPAs
District Access is designed to directly interface with the State of California, Department of Education CASEMIS software. District Access prepares a data file that can be read by CASEMIS, and all the codes follow CASEMIS standards. The software is updated to match changes in the data structure and fields of information requested by the California Department of Education each year.
The SELPA System II family makes use of Advantage Database Server of Sybase, Inc. Advantage enables District Access users to communicate using IP protocol over a wide-area network from local or remote sites. Users update the student database live, yet do so in a secure and efficient manner, due to packet encryption and compression.
