FAQs
These are some of the most frequently asked questions concerning the SELPA System II, products:
What is "web-based"?
"Web-based" means that you can use the power of the internet to administer your student database. Using your web browser, you can enter or edit data from any computer with an Internet connection.

Is the connection to the Internet secure?
WebIEP and WebDA uses 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, ensuring highly secure network and internet transfers. That's the same encryption that banks and online vendors use to secure payment information when doing business over the Internet.

Can we use our server?
Yes! In fact, the ability to use your own server is one of our strong points, and an important consideration for when choosing a student database system.

Which browsers can be used?
WebIEP and WebDA can be accessed from Windows-based computers, using Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, Netscape Navigator 7.1 or higher, or FoxFire 1.0.3 or higher.
MacIntosh users with OS/9 must use Netscape 7.02. This is the only supported browser for this platform.
MacIntosh users who use OS X (10.0 or higher) can use Netscape 7.1 or above, or Firefox 1.0.3 or higher. Safari is not supported at this time.
Linux OS is not officially supported at this time, but should work fine as long as one of the standard browsers mentioned above are selected for this platform.

Can our IEP forms be used with WebIEP?
Absolutely. One of the strong points of our system is that any forms that are unique to your SELPA can be added as an option, at an additional cost, to the set of generic forms that come with the system. That means that users will be presented with form types that they are familiar with and understand.

Does WebIEP provide CASEMIS validations?
Yes. Before an IEP can be finalized, data in that IEP is scrutinized to make sure that it complies CASEMIS requirements.

When are District Access / WebDA validations processed?
These validations are performed upon "Save" so the data entry errors can be corrected before the data is accepted into the database.

Are there maintenance or upgrade fees?
FMS charges a yearly maintenance fee. The fee is a "per student" fee based on the latest available December CASEMIS count. This fee provides tech support and product incremental versions to meet changing CASEMIS requirements.

What is your pricing structure?
Our licensing fee is a "per student" fee based on the latest available December CASEMIS count.

What kind of technical support is available?
We are available to you by telephone, email, or in person. We work with your support staff to answer any questions you have, or to troubleshoot any problems that come up.

How hard is it to get technical support?
Since we are a small organization, you will experience no long wait times or complicated recorded menus to get to the person or information you need.

Can WebIEP validate more than just CASEMIS requires fields?
We can validate any field or reaction needed to insure a complete and fully compliant IEP. We have one SELPA that has over 750 validations in their system.
